Emergency Care Assistant, 10:30a-10:30p, Full Time

Description:Assists nursing staff in performing various patient care activities as assigned under the direction of licensed personnel to deliver quality patient care. Assists patients with activities of daily living, responds to call bells, positions and transports patients and assists the nursing staff with patient care. All care is provided in compliance with and according to department policies/procedures and standards of care. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patientís age specific needs and provide age specific treatment and care. Participates in unit Quality Improvement activities. Assumes responsibility for assigned non-patient tasks.
Duties:Effective communication and interpersonal skills required. Ability to set priorities and organize work. Must be self-motivated. Maintains confidentiality of patient information. Must be able to maintain emotional control and tact in difficult and stressful situations. Must be able to handle requests from many people. Knowledge of procedures and skills in the use of electrocardiogram equipment, special beds and lifting devices, Cast room equipment, and other Emergency room related equipment
Qualifications:An Emergency Care Assistant must have the ability to read, write, communicate well, and have a basic knowledge of the human physical systems that is normally acquired through the completion of a high school education or equivalent. The completion and maintenance of CPR Certification, Crisis Management, Body Mechanics and Lifting Devices, Crutch and Walker Training and EKG Certification is required.
