Speech Pathologist, Occasional

|Description:||Identifies and evaluates patients with impaired speech, language, cognitive, voice and swallowing problems, and provides appropriate habilitation/rehabilitation. Provides inservices to community and professional groups, including hospital staff. Uses an understanding of the principles of growth and development to assess each patientís age specific needs and provide age specific treatments and care.|
|Duties:||Must demonstrate a knowledge of test procedures, anatomy and physiology and the effects of insults of the brain/oral peripheral mechanism as they relate to speech, language, swallowing, voice and cognition. Must demonstrate competence with habilitation/rehabilitation techniques to maximize patient progress. Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills. Computer and sign language knowledge is helpful.|
|Qualifications:||Masters degree in Speech-Language Pathology. New York State licensure in Speech-Language Pathology (non-licensed Speech-Language Pathologists must be eligible for temporary New York State licensure). Speech-Language Pathologists must meet the requirements for the America Speech-Language and hearing Association Certificate of Clinical Competence (CCC-SLP).|
